ALAN JOHNSON
Johnson, Alan E., 56, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed from this life on November 3, 2013 in the presence of his wife, Nicki, sister, Helen Staniewicz, and other relatives. Alan was educated at Sequoyah High School in Doraville, GA and Dekalb Technical College in Clarkston, GA. His primary focus was automobile repair and soon after he finished his Dekalb Tech program he became an ASE certified technician. When he was in his early twenties, Alan took a job on the staff of The Mountain Camp and Conference Center near Highlands, NC where he primarily did vehicle repair work for them. It was here he first met his wife-to-be, Nicki Rhodes. He subsequently had several auto repair jobs. Deciding that he preferred a more rural atmosphere to the city he purchased 12 acres on a hilltop near Dahlonega and moved there from Atlanta. He got re-acquainted with Nicki and in 1998 they were married. Alan''s home in Dahlonega became their home and they commuted to work at Nantahala Tire and Car Care in Highlands, where Nicki was the owner and Alan was the chief technician. They continued this arrangement for many years until health issues eventually caught up with Alan.

Alan is survived by his wife, Nicki, his parents, Jean and Roger Johnson, his sisters, Helen (Gregory) Staniewicz and Eleanor (Ed Knights) Johnson, his nieces, Ashley (Andrew) Estes and Natalie Staniewicz, nephew, Nick Staniewicz; step daughters Julie Sherburn and Danielle (Robert) Heart, step son Keil (Stacey) Rhodes; and his step grandchildren Shawn and Dakota.
A memorial service will be held at The Mountain Camp and Conference Center (Unitarian Universalist) near Highlands, NC at 2:00 on Saturday, November 23, 2013.

Donations in Alan''s memory may be made to The Mountain (www.mountaincenters.org), The Humane Society of the U.S.(www.humanesociety.org) or a charity of your choice.
