Alan J. Mills, age 46, of Forsyth County, GA., died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Northside Hospital surrounded by family and other loved ones.
Alan was born on April 3, 1973 in Tupelo, MS. He received his associates degree in culinary arts from The Art Institute of Atlanta in 1995. On May 31, 1997, he married Elisabeth Anne Grayson. Their son, Grayson Joseph Mills, completed their family in 2002.
Alan was a free spirit. He was an artist. He loved to draw and paint, but his talents shone brightest in his edible creations. His food was often as pleasing to look at as it was to eat. Some of his favorite days were spent beside a grill, either near the lake or in preparation for a Georgia football game, with his dog at his feet. He loved music, preferably loud and live. He loved movies. In fact, he loved movies so much, he found a way to be in one you can see his five seconds of fame just over the shoulder of Heath Ledger in The Patriot.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lisa Grayson Mills; his son, Grayson Mills; his mother and step father, Jo and David Boyd; his father, Ron Mills; his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Brad Ingram; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim and Susan Grayson, Ashley and Eddie Westerfield; his nieces, Lyla Ingram, Lorrie Ann Grayson, Catie Grayson, Callie Westerfield; his nephew, Cayden Westerfield, and other relatives.
Per Alans request, there will be no formal memorial service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Ingram Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending memorial contributions to the charitable cause of your choice.
Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040 is in charge of arrangements.
