Mr. Alton Floyd Richards Sr., age 83, of Cumming, Ga. passed away Monday, December 31st, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Longstreet Baptist Church. Reverends Bobby Padgett, Sanford Payne, and Doug Carnes will officiate. The family will receive friends and family Wednesday, January 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the family leaves for Longstreet at 10:30 am.
Mr. Richards was born October 28th, 1935 in Fulton County to the late Samuel and Mary (Little Mama) Richards. He was a long standing member and deacon of Longstreet Baptist Church and retired from the Coca Cola Company after 35 years of service. Alton was loved by and loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Mr. Richards is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Richards, his daughter Teresa Garrett, daughter and son-in-law Vivian and Alan Bennett, son Al Richards, and daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Jeff Perry, his grandchildren Tracie and (Phillip) Gibbs of Dawsonville, Ga., Clay and (Alexa) Richards of Cumming, Ga, Lauren Richards of Nashville, TN., AJ and (Brooke) Bennett of Rome, Ga, and Taylor Garrett of Gainesville, Ga. His great grandchildren include Jordan Henderson and Emma and Haylie Gibbs, as well as Blakelyn and Beckett Bennett. His great great grandchild is Sawyer Henderson. Surviving siblings are Melvin and (Geraldine) and Randell and (Lunette) Richards.
