Anna (Kocken) Senecal was born on February 20, 1952 in Oss, the Netherlands to Theodorus and Antonia (van Lieshout) Kocken. Anna is survived by her husband of 46 years Arthur Senecal and her children Arthur Senecal III, and Heather (Senecal) Bray and her husband Ryan, all of Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren John Ryan and Grady Bray of Georgia. Anna was the sister of the late Leo Kocken and his wife Rita (van Bommel) Kocken of Waterloo, NY, and Maria (Kocken) Strik and her husband Pieter Strik of Cranston, RI. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces.
When Anna was 9 years old her family emigrated from the Netherlands to the United States. Anna lived in Waterloo, NY, East Providence, RI, Cranston, RI, Johnston, RI and Cumming, GA. Anna worked all her life in the accounting field for several companies in Rhode Island and Georgia before finally retiring several years ago. Throughout her life she worked hard to care for her family. When Anna was 20, her father died suddenly. Anna was forced to work and provide for her and her widowed mother. In addition, Anna also helped care for her nephews and nieces to assist her brother’s and sister’s working families.
No plaques will be mounted, or statues erected for Anna. She can boast no political or athletic achievements often noted in society. Her daily contributions often went unnoticed and unappreciated in society. They are, however, the most important contributions one can make: the betterment of the family and friends. Anna’s care and compassion for others were unmatched and will be sincerely missed.
