With heavy hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Arnell Callaway Ohler, 87, of Cumming, GA, who left this life peacefully on her birthday, Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
Arnell was born on May 4, 1935 in Nicholson, GA to the late Arnold and Evelyn Garner Callaway. She was one of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death.
In the Spring of 1952, Arnell and Virgil Coleman Ohler, of Barnhill, Ohio, eloped to Mexico to be joined in union on June 2, 1952, and together they raised their five children; Teresa, Leonard, Denice, Van, and Virgil.
The family moved to Cumming, GA in 1977 after Virgil retired from the United States Air Force, where they enjoyed large family gatherings, gardening, cooking together, and watching their grandchildren grow.
Outside of being a loving wife and devoted mother, Arnell enjoyed tending to roses and magnolias in her ladybug filled garden, and delighted at the smell of her freshly baked bread and brewing coffee, in a home filled with family and laughter.
After Virgil's passing in 1994, Arnell continued the family traditions, and through her strong will, and unwavering love for her family, she kept the family strong and together until her passing. We are thankful for her devotion and blessed to have had her as the head of our family.
Those left to honor her memory include Teresa McReynolds, Denice (Dwayne) Brooks, Virgil Louise Gazaway, Virgil (Angela) Ohler; 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Callaway, siblings; Louise Bray, Ruth Shiner, Ruby Kormon, Jessie (Jet) Mae McCannon, Shirley Smith, and Arnold Callaway Jr., husband of 44 years; Virgil C. Ohler, and son; Leonard Ohler.
The family will receive family and friends at Ingram Funeral home on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Grove Chapel Church Cemetery in Winterville, GA.
