Arthur Edson Merriman

Arthur Edson Merriman of Sandy Springs, Ga.passed away Friday, September 14, 2012. Born in Waterbury, Conn. to Warren and Doris Merriman.
Graduate of Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, University of Colorodo, Masters degree in the Political Science.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 as a Navy photographer. The majority of his professional life was spent in Washington, D.C. and some assignments abroad. He was Chief Editor and speech writer for the Dept. of Agriculture and retired as Director of information, U.S. Forest service.
He is survived by his wife Sara Davis-Merriman, sons Arthur T. Merriman and wife Marta of Sandy Springs, Ga.. David Merriman and wife Colleen of Santa Fe, N.M. Step-sons, Bobby Davis, Jr. and wife Carolee of Denver, Co. Michael Davis and wife Betty of Kennesaw, Ga. Grand children: Andrea, Arturo, Hunter and Jace Merriman. Step-Grand children: Morgan and Adrienne Davis.
He left a legacy for his children and grand children in a book he wrote: KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH CAN SET YOU FREE. A devout Christian who believed deeply that love is the greatest gift we can give to another. He lived his belief with passion and conviction.
Celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, 69 North Main St., Alpharetta, Ga. 30009. Family will receive friends prior to the service, at the church in Trinity Hall from 5:30-6:30 P.M.
