Avalon Delp Cordell

Avalon (Avie) Delp Cordell, age 79, of Alpharetta, Georgia, died on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

Born May 15, 1935, in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Avie was born and raised on the Delp family farm. She taught elementary school in DeKalb County, Georgia, for almost 30 years. Avie was a deacon and a member of the choir of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Marla (and Mark) Colberg, of Oak Ridge, TN, and Laura Cordell, of Roswell, GA, grandchildren, Sarah Catherine, Emilie and Carolyn Sidelinger, and Joseph Colberg. Also survived by sisters, Vivian Delp Russell and Madelon Delp Callen, and brother, Alan Delp, all of Clarion, PA. Preceded in death by parents, David and Ruth (Riddle) Delp and brother, John Delp.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 1:00 p.m., at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church, Alpharetta, GA. There will be a second memorial service held at Leatherwood Church in PA at a later date.
