Avis Bailey Baber

Avis Bailey Baber of Cumming, GA passed away on 3/31/2023 after a mercifully quick battle with cancer.

Avis was born on Jan 12, 1941 to Hansel & Martha Sue Bailey in Atlanta GA. Avis worked as an administrative assistant and a school photographer. The job Avis was most proud of was “Mom” to her 3 daughters. Avis enjoyed travel, history, learning of all kinds, and had a fearless joie de vivre for all things. 

Avis is survived by her sisters Dr. Sylvia Bailey Shurbutt and Mrs. Betty Sue Bailey Waller, her children and their families including 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: Rene Orlin (and Doug Orlin), Leslie Puik (and John Puik), Priscilla Rasher (and Ed Rasher); Nicole Puik Andrews (and Robbie Andrews) and their children: Jack, Abigail, Nate, Gabriel, Elliott; Christina Puik Cruz (and Jason Cruz) and their children: Ella and Lilly; Jonathan Puik and Angela Puik; Scott Rasher and Maddie Rasher.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at Ingram’s funeral home on Sat, May 20 at 2 PM, visitation with the family begins at noon. Attendees can honor Avis by wearing Red (her favorite color) and in lieu of flowers donations to World Wildlife Fund are requested.
