Barbara Daumit-Till

Barbara Daumit-Till, age 80, passed away on June 25, 2023.  Barbara’s life was full, and she was blessed to have enjoyed a normal daily routine until her final weeks.

She was born Barbara Rose Koziel on November 22, 1942 in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Rose (Kubasik) Koziel. She married Richard Oberlietner of Perryopolis, PA in 1965 and they later had a daughter, Rebecca. In 1986, Barbara married Edmund Daumit of Monessen and moved to Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. Barbara had a long-term role helping manage the family business, Edmund’s Jewelers.  During this time, Barbara discovered her love for travel.

After Edmund’s passing in 2017, Barbara moved to the north Atlanta suburb of Cumming, Georgia to be closer to Rebecca’s family and her grandchildren, where she lived “just around the corner”.

Barbara was a vibrant person who approached life with positivity and enthusiasm. She always had a smile, a hug or a plate full of food or cookies for everyone she met. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.

Ever the social butterfly, Barbara quickly made friends in her neighborhood and at church. Not a day passed when Barbara didn’t have something in the oven, cooking for friends and for those she loved. In between, she found plenty of time for shopping, where she’d usually buy more things for others than she would for herself.

During her six years in Georgia, Barbara enjoyed her grandchildren’s countless youth sporting and school events, plus shared constant time with her daughter and family.

In Georgia, Barbara also found a new loving life companion at church, Sam Till, an incredible gentleman. In his truly loving devotion to Barbara, he became family, and they married in 2022.

For those who knew her, they’d describe Barbara as forever in bright spirits, always lifting up all those around her and simply a person you wanted to be around. She lived to give and care for others and was exceptionally generous. A truly beautiful woman and devout Christian, she loved deeply and was deeply loved.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Samuel Till, Jr.; daughter, Rebecca (Daniel) Ray; grandchildren, Gavin, Madelynn, and Ryder; sisters Judy Daye and Paula Mereness (Peter Simpkins) and many nieces and nephews.

Her light was so bright, and it continues to shine in those she left behind.

A memorial service will be held at Creekside Church in Cumming, Georgia on Tuesday, August 1st at 12:00.

Interment will be in Monessen, Pennsylvania in the fall of 2023, with details to be announced.
