Barbara Jean (Bucher) Peterson

Barbara Jean (Bucher) Peterson, 83, of Hartwell, Georgia passed away Friday, July 2, 2021. Born December 4, 1937 in Greene County, IN to the late Clyde and Ruth (Summerville) Bucher, Mrs. Peterson was a longtime resident of Hartwell. She was actively involved in the Hartwell First United Methodist Church having served as President of the United Methodist Church Women, Treasurer for many years with the Sojourner's Group and was involved with the Youth Mission Ministries. Mrs. Peterson often volunteered at The Clothes Closet, and was a former Girl Scout Leader. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Peterson and sister, Kay Bucher Earl.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Jane Peterson, Nancy J. (Michael) Smallwood; grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah) Smallwood, Nathan Smallwood, Brantley (Samantha) Smallwood; sisters, Anne Marie Bray, Betty (Jonas) Winklepleck, Patty Hartzburg; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mrs. Peterson will be Tuesday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
