Bernice (Sis) Phillips, 82, of Alpharetta passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017.Sis had a special way of touching everyones life that she came in contact with. She was kind and gentle with a fiercely determined spirit. Sis had a passion for painting and gardening. In her early days of painting she spent nights painting with the ladies at Cross Plains Church. She made many beautiful paintings on canvas. She advanced to figurines, specifically Christmas themed, in her later years. She had a love for flowers of any kind with just the right mix of devotion, patience, and love in her thumb to help them flourish. She used the same mixture of devotion to the lord, patience with the young, and love for all to help mold and shape her family. Siss love was spread through multiple generations, mostly by dragging all of her grandkids all over the place. Every grandchild and one great grandchild has been to church camp at least once. She could cook up a pot of chicken and dumplings that would soothe your soul like nothing else. Sis always had a listening ear and a helping hand for others. Her hardships made her who she was and gave her the ability to appreciate life from every angle.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Eric Grantham of Free Home; daughter, Connie Purcell of Alpharetta; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Susan Phillips of Cumming, Bobby and Sheila Phillips of Alpharetta; a sister, Lois Fox of Duluth; a brother, Fred Hicks of Cleveland; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
