Beth Meers

Sarah Elizabeth Meers, age 67, of Holbrook Campground, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019. She was a loving wife, mother, grannie, sister and friend to many. Beth enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling to the beach, baking and opening her home for family gatherings. Beth was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked with Vacation Bible School, a Youth Group Leader, in the WMU, sang in the Choir and was always willing to assist with her baking skills when needed.

Beth dedicated her life to helping other people as was evident; retiring from Northeast Georgia Medical Center after 34 years. Post retirement, she continued to work in the community where she was very active and on election day you could find her working the polls for the Cherokee County Elections.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher Austin and Agatha Maude Biddy; son-in-law, L. C. Zellner; brothers, Junior, Hubert, Lowell, Gerald, Charley; sisters, Jeanette, Dale and Ann.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years Lamar Meers of Holbrook Campground; daughter, Amanda Elizabeth Zellner of Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Courtney Meers of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Etta Meers, Maverick Meers and Ashtyn Elizabeth Zellner; brothers and sister-in-law, M.J. and Judy Biddy of Austell, Benny Biddy of Jasper; sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred Danforth of NC, Martha and Ronnie Clark of Free Home, Glenda Godfrey of Jasper; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17th at 1:00 pm at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Nix, Rev. Matthew Meers, Rev. Johnny Purcell and Rev. David Pruitt officiating. Remains will be placed in state at the Church at 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Interment will follow in New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16th from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming is in charge of arrangements.
