Betty Ann Cambra

Betty Cambra died peacefully on 10-17-24 after a short illness. She was proud to be an Atlanta native, having been born to Bill and Cleo Willingham on 9-24-33. She grew up in East Point, GA, graduating from Russell High School. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Louis Cambra, and her niece, Mary Masters Millians.

Betty is survived by her only child, Carol Cambra Smith, and her husband, Kenny, her only sister, Dixie Masters and her grandsons, David (Morgan) and Benjamin (Kelly) Smith along with her great-grandsons, Brighton, Henry, Sadler and Shiah and her only great-granddaughter, Salem Smith. She is survived by her nephew, Michael Masters and her 5 great-nieces. She adored her family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.

Betty was a faithful follower of Jesus and loved to teach the Bible, even starting a ladies’ class when she was in St. Croix. She was ready to move to her eternal home and has spoken about this often in the last few weeks.

Betty worked for the Department of the Army for over 37 years, rising to the position as a GS-15, upon retirement with a parade hosted by Colin Powell. She loved to travel with family, friends and her position with the Department of the Army gave her opportunities to visit bases all over the world.

After her retirement, she and her husband, Louis Cambra enjoyed more time for travel and entertaining. They enjoyed 10 years of that time living in St. Croix. Betty enjoyed volunteering with the Olympics in Atlanta, working over 3 years in the times leading up to 1996. She also spent time with the Friendship Force, hosting people from all over the world. Her last years were spent living in Soleil Canyon in Canton and finally at Village Park in Alpharetta. She loved people, never met a stranger and was always ready for a game or party.

A celebration of life will be held on October 20, Sunday at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA at 12:30 PM. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the chapel.
