Betty Harris

Betty was born and raised in Coal Mountain Georgia at the corner of Hwy. 9 and Spot Road. Her first job, according to her, was burning the beaks off of baby chicks so they would not hurt each other. She then went on to work at the pants factory in Cumming with her older sister, Lillian (Harris) Willard. The factory was then bought out by Russell sports wear and Betty and Lillian continued to work until their respective retirements. Betty then went on to work at the Atlanta Journal and Constitution putting together the Sunday paper.

Betty attended Coal Mountain Baptist Church and LOVED Jesus with all her heart.

She is preceded in death by her mama and daddy, Toy and Carrie Harris, sisters, Bertie Mae, Lillian (Willard), Marie, Dot (Wood), Ruby Adcock, Roy, and Katie (Wigginton) She had a number of nieces and nephews as well as a number of great nieces and nephews.
