Betty JoAnne Higgins Stanford, 81, a life-long resident of Forsyth County went home to be with Her Savior Tuesday, August 18, 2020, following a prolonged illness. JoAnne is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. R. Cloyse Stanford; her parents, G. Anderson and Imogene McClure Higgins; her step-mother Rachel Porter Walls Higgins; her great granddaughter, Remington Cheyenne Charm Stanford; and older brothers, Harley Elwin and R. Donald Higgins.
She is survived by her children, R. Dennis Stanford, Angela (Terry) Harris, and William "Billy" Stanford, all of Cumming, and Diane (Wally) Carter of Marietta; her sisters, Joyce (Lanier) Castleberry and Martha (Phillip) Castleberry, of Cumming, her brother, "Mack" (Emma Lou) Higgins and her sister-in-law, Pat Higgins of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Chris and Greg Ridings, Robert Clay (Chasity) Stanford, Michael Henderson, and Kadance Stanford; great-grandchildren, Casey, Justin, Chase, and Luke Ridings, Cheyanna and Khloe Stanford, of Cumming; and several nieces and nephews.
Born January 15, 1939, the third child and oldest daughter of six. A devoted member of Crossroads Baptist Church, Cumming, she attended and graduated from Chestatee School in 1957 where she met the man she would be married to for almost 60 years.
A memorial service will be held graveside Sunday August 30, 2020 at 4 pm at Crossroads Baptist Church, Jot'em Down Road, Cumming. Family will receive friends by walk-up and drive-thru at the graveside from 2 pm until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, c/o Charles Grindle, 6105 Jett Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040 is in charge of arrangements.
