Betty Schmidt radiated joy and love in everything she did. She instilled in her family a sense of responsibility for helping others and supporting friends through good times and bad. Her loving spirit and zest for life will be greatly missed. She passed peacefully on September 21, 2021, at hospice in Cumming, Georgia.
She was born Betty Jane Baldwin on December 9, 1931, in Lyon County, Kentucky. She met John Schmidt while he was a paratrooper stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. They married on September 20, 1952 and moved to Toledo where they raised their family. She was widowed in 1997 and moved to Georgia in 2010, to be near her family.
Betty enjoyed antiquing and flea markets and being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her sister, Mary Sue (Davey) Davidson, three daughters, Nancy (Mike) Beres, Janet (Craig) McCausland and Bonnie (Alan) Fowler, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
While Betty has elected not to have a funeral, she encourages all of us to love our families each and every day.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio at www.hospicenwo.org.
