Beverly Ann Stancil, 87, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023. A member of Cumming Baptist Church, Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stancil; son Jeff Stancil; parents, Loy and Edie Barnett; brothers and sisters in Law, Eiron (Lorene) Barnett, Lellon (Virginia) Barnett; sisters & brothers-in-law,Margie (Everett) Tate and Brenda (Jackey) Dudley
Survivors include her son, Rob Stancil; brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Barbara) Barnett; sister-in-law, Marylain Stancil; lifelong friend, Joann Cowart and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their descendants.
Beverly earned her master Cosmetologist license in her teens and ran a home beauty shop for over 30 years. Following her “retirement”, she turned her love of antiques and the hunt for them into a business named “Country Cottage”, an antique store she operated for another 20years. Beverly and Melvin thrived on their “treasure hunting” trips and enjoyed life to the fullest.
When Melvin entered the final phase of his life dealing with Parkinson’s Disease, Beverly was by his side providing the best quality of life possible. As Melvin’s disease progressed into dementia and led to a long final stay in the nursing home, she was there by his side every day at lunch and dinner to be sure he was fed properly and put to bed each evening in the proper manner.
After Melvin’s passing, Beverly had five short months to adjust before she was hit with the first massive stroke in 2011. This left her with little motion on her left side, but she persevered and had a good quality of life living at home and using a wheelchair until 2020. Another stroke hit Beverly in 2020 and took out the motion on the right side and took her voice away. After 3 and a half years in the nursing home, Beverly left us and went home to be with the Lord where she joins Melvin and their son Jeff who they had lost back in 1994.
The family appreciates the outstanding care provided to Beverly by the Cumming Health and Rehab nursing facility and the Inspire Hospice group. Extra special thanks to the 200 Hall ladies (Carlene, Deborah & Darlene) whose care and compassion for Beverly were way above and beyond, and showed the love they had for her. Special thanks as well to her hospice nurse Brennan for the awesome care, compassion, and love she shared with Beverly as the end drew near. These ladies were a true blessing and we will always be thankful to them for their love.
