Bill Marlow was born on September 6, 1941, in Rogers, Arkansas. For generations, Bill's family were farmers. Throughout his childhood, Bill helped his father work around their farm. When he came home from school to milk the cows, his dad asked him about his school day. His father always said they had the best educated cows in Benton County, Arkansas! Bill was the first person in his family to go to college. He attended University of Arkansas and graduated with a B.Sc. in chemistry. He was a member of the chemistry fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma.
He married Marjorie Stockdale on July 15, 1967, at the Church of the Nazarene, Pensacola, Florida. Bill and Marjorie were married for 43 years. Bill retired in 2006 after working for 40 years as senior chemist for Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals and its subsidiaries. Bill and Marjorie moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, to be near their children and grandchildren. Marjorie died of cancer in 2010. Bill was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene and Gideons International.
He had the gift of generosity and throughout his life donated to countless Christian organizations and charities. Bill's family was musical. His grandfather played the fiddle at square dances and used the money to buy the family acreage in Rogers, Arkansas. Bill loved music. He inherited the ability to play several instruments by ear and taught himself to read music. He played the harmonica, guitar, piano, autoharp, and keyboard. He cherished memories of his family gathered around the piano singing hymns on Sunday evenings.
In 2012, he married Elizabeth Ann McCallum. Bill and Elizabeth were married for nearly 12 years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Marlow; two children, Howard and Donna Marlow; daughter-in-law Tammy Marlow; and three grandchildren, Logan Marlow, Cale Marlow, and Rhaynee Marlow. Bill Marlow will be deeply missed.
