Boyce Hayes of Cumming went to be with his Lord on June 17, 2024. He died peacefully at his home, cared for by his loving wife and daughter.

Boyce grew up in rural Hall County Georgia, the youngest of eight siblings, including his twin brother. In high school he was a basketball and baseball star. Shortly after high school he joined the US Navy. He served as a Radioman aboard the USS John S. McCain DL3. He was known to say of his Navy stops: “the only foreign country I ever visited was New York City.” He earned the equivalent of a two-year course in electronics while in the Navy and participated in a special Naval Intelligence Center operation to test the effectiveness of Morse code to track and communicate enemy objects.

After the Navy, he attended and graduated from Atlanta Electric Technology School, and later graduated from Control Data Institute. Boyce worked for many top tier companies maintaining various computer systems. Ultimately, he came to work for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies in electronic maintenance. He retired in 2000 and said it was the best job he ever had.

Boyce’s hobbies included RC airplanes and electronics. He was quite inventive and applied for several patents. He loved his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He loved silly jokes, especially punny ones. He loved to read his bible and enjoyed bible classes. He was a member of First Redeemer Church.

Boyce is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan, his daughter Elita, stepdaughter Anna, stepson Anthony, his sister Agnes, eleven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
