Brenda Gail Payne

Brenda Gail Payne was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. On September 21st, at the age of 66, she went home to be with the Lord. Gail, or as she was also known as Gran-Gran, is survived by her sisters Beatrice Roper, EllaRee Jones, Shirley Manders, Frances Sosebee, Rita Sosebee; brothers Leland, Jerry, and JC Nichols. Daughters and sons-in-laws Misty and Preston Wilkie, Amanda and Shannon Sheffield, son and daughter-in-law Nelson and Sara Payne. Grandchildren: Eli, Sadie, Adley, Makale, Chloe, and Achan Wilkie; Shyla, Miya, and Lilly Sheffield; Karis, Asher, and Ariah Payne; and several nieces and nephews.

In October 1974, by divine appointment, Gail met Larry at the car wash in Cumming. Fourteen months later, they started their journey together. For 48 years, Larry and she found joy in living together. From the simplest of things like car rides, antique shopping, and yard sales to camping and traveling to new places, they continually built their bond together. They loved spending time with their 12 grandkids in their many activities. Gail had a gift of meeting people where they were. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She loved without conditions or limits. She used her God-given talent of making flowers to share the love of Jesus with so many. The light of Christ shined through her and her giving spirit. She lived her life like Jesus with love, humility, meekness, and with a servant's heart.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Chestatee Worship Center in Dawsonville with Rev. Ricky Stepp & Rev. Andy Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. She will be placed in state at the church Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
