Mr. Calvin Thomas, age 85, of Dawsonville, formerly of the Atlanta area, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011. Calvin was in the Navy during W.W.II where he served in the South Pacific Theater on a P.T. boat. After leaving the military he graduated from Georgia Military College. He will always be remembered for being a coach for various little league teams. His main goal in coaching was for the children to be first. Calvin was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all he knew. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Chris Toni Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joan Thomas; children, Kandy Jill Thomas, Clint Cody Thomas, Tammy Thomas Barnett; grandchildren, Stephany Susan Peters, Britton Naomi Barnett, Christopher Luke Thomas; sister, Betty Sue Tatum; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Deckard officiating.
