Carol Carter

Carol Carter, age 57, of Suwanee, Georgia, peacefully passed away on March 20, 2020.

Carol will be greatly missed by Tom Carter, her husband and life partner of nearly 39 years, and Irina Carter her 19 year-old daughter. Their lives together were bound by trust and a strong reliance on each other. They shared countless experiences and memories and made a difference in many lives.

Carol and Toms story began as teenagers when they met at the State University of NY at Buffalo in the summer of 1981. Carol was from the south towns of Buffalo, NY, and Tom was from the north towns. Back in those days, the south towns and north towns might as well have been on separate planets. That however, only set the tone for their adventurous lives ahead traveling and living around the world.

They both came from working class beginnings, large families, fostering strong work ethics, strong family centric beliefs, traditions, and a pride of perseverance. They made their own path together, lived the way they wanted, and always kept going in the face of every challenge and opportunity. They enriched each other with different perspectives on the shared interests they had. They were married on a beautiful spring day in May, 1988, with a slight drizzle of rain for good luck. They grew together as a couple and made countless memories together. They grew deep roots yet ventured far and experienced more than their fair share of places, cultures, and things. They stayed together in commitment, through thick and thin. They made the best of every situation, appreciated what they had, and took nothing for granted.

They adopted their sweet daughter, Irina, in the fall of 2001. They were destined for each other, they loved her immediately and Irina made their family complete. Irina enriched them, brought them perspective, purpose, and fulfillment. Some of the most fulfilling memories of their lives were with the three of them together. They traveled and saw the world together, with much family time spent with each other. Together, they made a difference with each other, and will always continue to do so in memory.

Carols extended family had always been a very important part of her life. She was blessed to come from and marry into a large and loving extended family. She was so grateful for them and cherished all the family parties, picnics, events, ceremonies and celebrations together. Carol also respected and depended on her friends, and was so grateful to have her friends in her life, both in the US and around the world.

Carol was passionate about the environment and enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife. She was kind to those in need, and always routed for the underdog.

Carol was bornNovember 5, 1962to Sylvia and James Ziegler who preceded her in death.Carol is survived by her loving husband, Tom Carter; daughter, Irina Carter; siblings, Alan (Shirley) Ziegler, Tom Ziegler, Joe (Carla) Ziegler, Donna (Tom) Kaiser, and Lynn (Bruce) Geist; Carols brothers, Jim (Paula) Ziegler and John (Julie) Ziegler preceded her in death. Carol is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held pending in the future at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation. They did an excellent job in treating and caring for Carol, for over 3 years, which allowed for many more happy moments and memories in those years.
