Carolyn Gayle Cobb, age 71, of Hartwell, Ga. passed away Friday, July 1 at her home, surrounded by family and friendsfollowing a battle with cancer.
Gayle was born October 22, 1950 in Rocky Mount, N.C. to the late John M. Cobb Jr.and Doris Mae Williams Cobb.
She was survived by her beloved sisters, Cindy Owens (Ken), Lynn Planer (Mike), and Gloria Fagin (Dave); nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Tracy, Kevin, Grant, and Jacob; along with 7 great nieces and nephews; dear friend, Debby Davenport. As well as her cherished pets.
Gayle taught Spanish at Stone Mountain High School for 31 years. She travelled Spain and other countries, often taking several students with her.
When she moved to Hartwell in 2003, she became an active advocate for animals, rescuing and leading efforts to help Hart County Humane Society and AnimalRescue Inc. Her voice became well known with the county commissioners at their board meetings.
Gayle enjoyed the lake life with family and friends. She also loved gardening,country and beach music, dancing, trivia, and any type game.
A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7th at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roswell, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hart County Human Society, Animal Rescue Inc. or other rescue or charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the care of Ingram Funeral Home and Greenlawn Cemetery.
