Charles A. McCleary, 72, of Cumming passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Charles was born August 13, 1947 to the late James and Era June McCleary. He was a member of the 4-H B.B. Team and the retired owner of Peachtree Body Shop. Charles enjoyed building trophies and lamps, particularly for his grandchildren and was an avid deer hunter. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Geneva Lynn Cheek and a son Michael Charles McCleary.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty McCleary of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Micah Porter of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Jason and Nikki Kafka, Tim and Brittany Vasil, Jeffrey and Anna Cheek, Megan Rebecca Hernandez, Tiffany Craig; 10 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Julia McCleary, David McCleary, all of Temple; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and David Hamby, Becky and Jim Smith, all of Temple; son-in-law, Jeff Cheek of Hiawassee; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
