Charles Edwin Lemons, Sr., age 80, and resident of Cumming, Georgia died July 1, 2014 in Cumming, Georgia. He was born in Louisburg, Missouri on April 17, 1934, the youngest son of Elbert and Maude Weeks Lemons. Chuck attended Kincaid High School in Kincaid, Kansas, and served in the United States Air Force until 1972, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. On December 16, 1961, Chuck married Audrey Anne Walker in Memphis, Tennessee.

While in the Air Force, Chuck served at many bases throughout the United States, as well as tours in the United Kingdom, Japan, and two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he worked primarily in aircraft maintenance and as a crew chief. After retiring from the Air Force, Chuck lived in Clarksville, Tennessee where he was employed as a civilian at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, until 1994. After retiring from civil service, Chuck moved to Cherokee County, Georgia, where he lived for his remaining years.

Chuck was a gentle soul, with an easy smile, and a kind heart. He valued hard work and honesty, and was a gifted mechanic, with an ability to repair virtually anything. Chuck was a lifelong car enthusiast, and enjoyed a range of hobbies throughout his life, including photography, beer can collecting, and restoration of antique tractors. He was a committed family man, and drew great pleasure from spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Walker Lemons (Cumming, GA); two sons, Charles Edwin Lemons, Jr. and his wife Janet of Cherokee County, Georgia; Kenneth Elvert Lemons, and his wife Susan of Johns Creek, Georgia; six grandchildren, Charlsie Elizabeth Lemons of Atlanta, Georgia; Emily Grace Lemons, Kimberly Anne Lemons, and Caroline Inetha Lemons of Cherokee County, Georgia; Catherine Magdalena Lemons and Matthew Ryan Lemons of John Creek, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Maude Weeks Lemons, and by five siblings, Robert M. Lemons, Kenneth Lemons, William G. Lemons, Jack L. Lemons, and L. Ruth Lemons Davison.

The family will receive visitors at the Byars Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia on Monday, July 7 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm, and burial with military funeral honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia at 2:30pm.
