Charles Eugene Burnett

Charles (Chuck) Burnett, age 74, passed away December 19 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Roberta (Bobbie); son Charles Jr. of Haverhill, Massachusetts and his family, Lynne, Ben and Lauren; daughter Holly and her husband Michael Beernink, Lawrenceville.

Chuck was born in Kansas City, Mo. and graduated from Kansas State University where he was president of his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, and remained an avid K-State fan. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Kassel Germany. Chuck worked for Lucent Technologies in Kansas City, North Andover, MA., and Alpharetta and retired after 34 years. He was employed parttime at Publix grocery stores in Roswell and Suwanee for the past ten years.

Loyal and steadfast were traits that made him an unassuming role model. As a devoted husband and father, he wisely counseled and guided his wife and son and daughter. Chuck formed lifelong friendships during high school in Kansas City. These strong bonds of fellowship brought him much joy. He and Bobbie were blessed with friendships that spanned decades. He served as deacon and moderator for the North Andover Congregation Church. For the past 17 years, Chuck volunteered with Noah's Ark Bowling Group of Roswell United Methodist Church. An animal lover, he developed a special relationship with April Denny, his beloved foster-care poodle.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors for his kindness, helpfulness, and generosity. Memorial service will be January 27 at Johns Creek United Methodist Church, at 10:00 a.m. Interment at GA National Cemetery in Canton to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Cherokee Humane Society, 5900 Bells Ferry Road, Acworth, GA 30102 or Johns Creek Methodist Church, 11180 Medlock Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097.
