Charles Emory Hansard, age 82, of Cumming, GA, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born in 1940, to the late R.E. and Lizzie Hansard. Charles was a United States Army veteran. He was a past master and secretary for Tucker Masonic Lodge #42 F&AM. He was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker, GA. Charles retired from the United States Postal Service after 48 ½ years. He was a clock collector and avid Atlanta Braves fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Craig Daniel Hansard; and siblings, Brenda Byrd, Alvin Hansard, and Johnny Hansard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Virginia Hansard; children, Chuck (Kelly) Hansard, and Kim Hansard; 2 grandchildren, Zachary (Becky) Ledford, and Jamie Smith; siblings, Henrietta Hansard, Henry Hansard, Jimmy (Linda) Hansard, Raymond Hansard, and Tommy Hansard; sister-in-law, Cecelia Hansard; numerous nieces and nephews; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA with Rev. Greg Hansard officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Children’s Masonic Home, 1477 Nottingham Dr. Macon, GA 31211.
