Charles Reid Gillis

Charles Reid Gillis, 86, went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2014 in Marietta, GA.

Our family will have a private service at a later date to be determined due to the recent passing of our mother.

Granddaddy was a native of Charlotte, NC born to James and Bessie Gillis August 20, 1927. He graduated from FSU in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science and Georgia Southern with a Master of Education in 1964. Reid was a teacher, counselor, principal and administrator. Education was so important to him that finishing school meant you graduated from college. He always boasted that he was the first graduating class after FSU went coed. He was a big Noles fan.

Dad was a loving father and amazing husband who loved his wife, Beverly, who just passed away January 20th. What a wonderful love story these two had for 58 years and in death they are now reunited together again. We find comfort in knowing that mom and dad are keeping watch over us and we will see them again one day.

Reid is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Missy and Tom Stone, Holly and Tom Pointer, 4 grandchildren; Will and Andrea McEliece, Hannah and Tate Pointer, a sister, Millie Allison in St. Pete Fla, and many nieces and nephews.
