Charlie Coleman Lane

Mr. Charlie Coleman Lane of Dawsonville passed away on December 21st at home with his family by his side. A service celebrating Mr. Lanes life will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel, 210 Ingram Ave., Cumming, GA, with Rev. Phil Gambill officiating. A military burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, GA. Mr. Lane was born in Rutherford, NC, and was the son of the late Crawford Coleman and Bernice Virginia Lane. He was a member of First Christian Church in Cumming, retired from General Motors, and then worked at Big Canoe. He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry, Company B, during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart for his service. Mr. Lane is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susan Hamrick Lane; his daughters, Christel Lane (Mitch) Allen of Rock Hill, SC; Wendi Lane (Bryan) Swearingen of Cumming, Ga; Lisa (Jim) Harmon of Jacksonville, Fl; Tina Lane of Brunswick,GA; his sisters, Ruth Lane Turton of Charlotte, NC, Virginia Lane (Todd) Colvin of Austin, TX, and Albert Lane (Larry) Jutowsky of Mesa, AZ; his brothers, Roy (Peggy) Lane of Charlotte, NC, and Ron (Sandra) Lane of Charlotte, NC; his sister-in-laws, Ellie Hamrick Doster of Charlotte, NC and Rebecca Hamrick (Sam) Treadaway of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren, Hunter Allen, Luke Allen, Robby Swearingen, Josh Swearingen, and Jamie Harmon The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Monday, December 26, 2011 at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel, 210 Ingram Ave., Cumming, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, 1687 Tullie Circle, NE, Atlanta, G.A., 30329, www.choa.org or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
