On the evening of Saturday, March 20, 2021, Christine Northcutt McPherson, 82, of Cumming, Georgia finished a race well run.
Tean was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born in Gilmer County in the community of Turniptown to John and Eva Northcutt, she spent her childhood years on a farm in North Fulton County, went to Milton High and was saved and baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church. After marriage to the love of her life, Charles McPherson in 1955 she lived most of her adult life in the Ducktown community, where she belonged to and faithfully attended New Harmony Baptist Church. She spent many years teaching Sunday school, bible school, forming and leading Girl Scout troop 120 and coordinating sports and youth activities with Charles for their children and the children of the community. Tean often said "I just love everybody" and everyone around her felt deeply loved.
Tean retired from what at that time was Wachovia Bank. She won many awards for her dedicated service to her customers, but there was nothing she loved more than her family. Always the biggest cheerleader for Charles, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she encouraged and prayed for all to follow the Lord and enriched their lives for all her life. She was dedicated, determined and lovingly steadfast. Never was it more evident than in her role as Granny Mac to her 10 grandchildren, 11 great children and everyone else who was blessed to know her love.
Tean was preceded in death by her husband Charles McPherson; her parents, John and Eva Northcutt, her brothers, Charles Northcutt and John Northcutt Jr.; sisters, Susie Thompson, Frances McCleskey, Pearl McBrayer.
She is survived by her children Melvin and Sandra McPherson of Cumming; Jenny and Hugh McMillian of Cumming; Marty and Freida McPherson of Cumming; Jill and David Thomas of Cumming and Cory and Toni McPherson of Ball Ground; sister Mary Pruitt of Cumming; Barbara and Lewis Ledbetter of Cumming; Dolly and Felton Thornton of Fort Valley and brother Bill and Lucy Northcutt of Canton; brother and sisters-in-law Betty Adams, Llenell McPherson, Pam McPherson and Wayne McPherson. Grandchildren Stephen and Kristy McPherson, Amy and Brett Boutwell, Kristi and Brandon Watson, Bridget and Dustin Martin, Asa McMillian, Eddie and Daphne Thomas, Emily and Garrison Johnson, Heidi McPherson, John David McPherson and Sarah and Jordan Chism; and great grandchildren, Kadance and Camden McPherson, Emma Grace and Clete Boutwell, India, Tucker and Remy Jane Watson, Easton Martin, Grady Thomas, and Gibson and Lyla Johnson.
The family extends a special thank you to the caregivers and staff at Inspired Living Alpharetta and Agape Hospice for their exceptional care.
