Christopher Alan Monks passed away on April 19th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. We will keep pushing forward in his honor and living as he would want us to do.
Chris was born in North Bennington Vermont on November 23rd, 1972 on Thanksgiving Day. He spent his childhood Vermont before moving to Snellville, Georgia. Chris was an electrician for over 20 years and enjoyed being a mentor to those who worked with him. Chris met his favorite person, best friend and soul mate in 1992 at the age of 19. Chris and Stacie married in the fall of 1996 in their hometown of Snellville, Georgia. Chris and Stacie had their first child, a daughter, Emma in April of 2000 and then their son Hayden in August of 2004.
In 2005 Chris was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and was medically retired from being an electrician in 2009. Chris then spent his time focusing on Emma, Hayden and of course Stacie. Chris enjoyed his time camping in their travel trailer and annual Disney vacations. Chris didn’t focus on what he couldn’t do but what he could do. During the next few years the family moved for Stacie’s job. Chris, Stacie, Emma and Hayden moved from Georgia to South Carolina, back to Georgia, then to St Augustine, Florida, back to Georgia and then off to the west coast to Arizona. Chris enjoyed the adventure of moving to a new state and exploring all it had to offer. Chris enjoyed the desert and the desert agreed with him. Monks family adventures continued which took them to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and right in their back yard, spending time at Lake Pleasant enjoying the water and the wild donkeys.
Chris focused on spending time with Stacie, Emma and Hayden which were the most important people in his life. Chris also had a love for wood-working, crafting, HGTV, the food network, and cooking/grilling. Any new recipe he found, Chris was ready to try and master for the entire family to enjoy. Chris loved his family very deeply and the life they built. Chris told Stacie- I can’t promise to love you, your entire life, but I can promise to love you mine. They had a love that was unmatched.
Chris is survived by his wife Stacie, and their children Emma and Hayden; his brothers Dan (Amanda) Monks and Brian (Karen) Monks, his sister in law Katie (Trey) Peacocke, brother in law Sean Tauber, his nieces and nephews; Alex and Ben Monks, Asher and Charlotte Peacocke, Sophia and Olivia Tauber, and his Mother and Father in law, Mike and Cathy Volk. He was preceded in death by his father David Monks, his mother Carol Monks and his grandparents Guy and Ruth D’Angelo as well as Bill and Marie Monks.
A celebration of life will be held at Ingram Funeral home in downtown Cumming on Saturday, April 27th from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM. A lunch gathering will follow at the Monks Family home in Cumming GA.
