Clarence James (C.J.) Purcell

Clarence James (CJ) Purcell, 77, of Cumming, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. CJ was born September 05, 1940 to the late Henry Grady and Estelle Purcell of Alpharetta, GA. CJ was a carpenter by trade for over 40 years.

He is proceeded in death by his companion of 21 years, Mrs. Frances Kendrix, his son, James Travis Purcell, his brothers, Leonard Purcell, Edwin (Buddy) Purcell, and sisters, Louise Youngblood, Minnie Lee Richards, Ruby Purcell, Mary Lois McCoury, Jeannette Purcell and Rebecca Henderson. He is survived by his children Rita Black and her companion Matson Holtzclaw of Dawsonville, GA, Greg and Sharon Purcell of Cumming, GA and Timmy and Shirley Purcell of Jasper, GA; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Byars Funeral Home on Wednesday April 4, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church located at 2250 Friendship Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. Pastor Johnny Purcell will officiate the service.
