Claude Franklin Garner, Sr., age 70, Gainesville resident since 1996, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011. A native of Waynesboro, Georgia, he received a BA Degree in Accounting from the University of Georgia, Athens, and established his own CPA firm in Atlanta where he lived for 32 years. Claude continued his private practice after moving to Gainesville. He was a Life Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and member of the Georgia Society of CPAs. His practice in accounting spanned 49 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Cicero Garner and Bernice Garner of Waynesboro, Georgia. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Evans Garner of Gainesville; Sons, Claude F. Garner, Jr. of Roswell, GA., William Francis Garner of Macon, and Stuart Welch Garner of Gainesville, GA.; brother, Cicero Garner Jr. of Panama City Beach, Florida; Grandchildren, Chelsea Denise Garner, Melissa Ann Garner, and Noah Kyle Garner, and other relatives. A Memorial Service is planned for 5:30 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2011, at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4815 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, Georgia 30506, Pastor Larry Patton officiating. All are invited to a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to New Hope UMC, 4815 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, Georgia 30506, for the continuance of their ministries of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
