Claudia L Porter

Mrs. Claudia Porter, 77, of Roswell departed this life peacefully on February 7, 2025. Claudia was born in Washington State to her parents, Lloyd and Helen Ferrey. Claudia lived in Roswell for 50 years after moving from the West Coast. She had a special gift for understanding and working with children, devoting much of her life to serving children with special needs. She created a program at North Fulton Child Development Center, led the “Focus” class at High Meadows School, and then founded her own school, Porter Academy, which is celebrating 25 years of helping children and their families.

Claudia loved animals and found ways to interact with everything from baby tigers and lions to kangaroos and dolphins. She also enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, going for walks, and playing Bridge. Claudia valued her participation in the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P E.O). She was a member of Roswell Presbyterian Church and their “Think” Sunday school group.

Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Alan Porter, children: Brett Porter (Heather), Doug Porter (Lindsay), and Lynn Schoeneck (Dave), brother Jeff Ferrey (Twiggy), grandchildren, Mackenzie Schoeneck, Sophie Porter, Sierra Porter, Carter Schoeneck, and Bryce Porter.

A Graveside service with immediate family will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery on February 11, 2025. A celebration of life service & reception is scheduled for Roswell Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 29 at 10am .
