Clifford Bennett Flood, 88, of Cumming GA, passed away July 21 after battling cancer for more than a year. Supported by his family, he remained in good humor and strong in his faith to the end.
Cliff Flood was born August 30, 1928 in Tupelo Oklahoma, the youngest of 5 children. He grew up on farms in Pittsburg and Canadian counties in OK before moving to California in his late teens. He joined the US Air Force, earning his wings in 1950 and he flew transport aircraft during the Korean War. Cliff moved to the Atlanta area in 1955 to begin his career flying for Eastern Air Lines as well as flying fighter jets in the Georgia Air National Guard.
Cliff is survived by his wife Bonnie Barker Flood, son Stephen K Flood, son Eric B Flood and daughter Tracy M Hoeltke. Stepchildren Cheri Cristy and husband Bill, Michael R. Brosius and wife Laurie, and Deborah S. Brosius. Cliff was a devoted grandfather to his 11 grandchildren: Tripp, Clay, Ramsey, Ashley, Sarah, Hannah, Haley, Rachael, Beck, Lauren, and Duke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo Allen and Dessie Pearl Flood; Brother Edward Flood; sisters Opal Tinsley, Jewel Cronk, and Ruby Begley; and daughter Donna G Flood.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Byars Funeral Home, 155 Professional Park Drive, Cumming, Ga. 30040.
