Rev. Robert Cloyse Stanford, 78, of Forsyth County went home to be with the Lord Tuesday March 13 following a prolonged illness. Rev. Stanford is preceded in death by this parents Lewis and Gertrude Stanford, his great granddaughter, Remington Cheyenne Charm Stanford, and 9 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, JoAnne Higgins Stanford; his children, Dennis Stanford, Angela (Terry) Harris, and Billy Stanford, all of Cumming, and Diane (Wally) Carter of Kennesaw; his brother, Eugene Stanford, of Doraville; six grandchildren, Chris (Misty) Ridings, Greg (Anna) Ridings, Robert Clay (Chasity) Stanford, Michael Henderson, Payton Mullinax, and Kadance Stanford; six great-grandchildren, Casey Ridings, Justin Ridings, Chase Ridings, Luke Ridings, Cheyanna Stanford, and Khloe Stanford, all of Cumming; and several nephews and nieces.

Born July 24, 1939, the youngest of eleven children of a farmer and a midwife, he was raised on a farm on Jotem Down Road in the Chestatee Community. He went to Salem Baptist Church where he accepted his Savior Jesus Christ at the age of ten. He attended and graduated from Chestatee School in 1957 where he met the red-headed girl that he would marry June 13, 1958.

Cloyse, as he was known, was a member, deacon, and home preacher of Crossroads Baptist Church, Cumming and a former pastor of Corinth Baptist Church. He served the Lord wherever he was; Rev. Stanford was the Metal Fabrication Instructor for 25 years at Forsyth County / Forsyth Central High School, Vocational Department, where he was a Godly light for many students.

Visitation and viewing will be Thursday evening, 4:00 pm till 9:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at Crossroads Baptist Church, Jotem Down Road, Cumming, at 11:00 am with remains to be placed in state at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, c/o Charles Grindle, 6105 Jett Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
