David N. Shaw was born on October 5th, 1949 and met the Savior he served for 72 years on October 6th, 2021. He became a hero to many in many different ways. He was the son of a preacher man who sometimes lived up to the term preacher's kid but who also soaked in all the goodness that was his father. He was an Air Force veteran who adored the country he served. He was a gifted leader and led with humility, integrity, intention, and deep wisdom. Yet no one was ever beneath him. He was a provider and ensured those he loved as well as those who needed him were quietly taken care of. He was a sports enthusiast with a loyalty unmatched by most. Some of his greatest moments on earth were on a field. He was a comedian who could improv in the blink of an eye. His humor was sarcastic, hilarious, and endearing. He was a mentor who chose to walk beside the broken in spirit and calmly guide and befriend those who needed him the most. He was brilliant. Google had nothing on him. Yet he used this superpower to humbly teach, guide, and influence any soul in his path. He was a listener. He did not allow his own agenda to impede the opportunity to hear you. He was a friend. Those closest to him knew his loyalty, sacrifice as well as the joy they brought to him. He was a Papa. His lap was always full of his favorite little people and his heart spilled out all over them for over 15 years. They were his light. He was a father. His children knew their dad was extraordinary all of their life and are doing their best to carry on his legendary legacy. He was a husband. Married to his other half for 49.5 years. In sickness and in health they became unbreakable, purposeful, united, and one. She was his world. He was a child of God. His life reflected his King. His influence for Him will never be forgotten. And his gain is beyond comprehension.
