Deborah Kay (Debbie) McGhee

Deborah Kay McGhee of Buford, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the home of her parents, Glenn and Fran Zipfel after a lengthy battle with Cancer. 

Debbie’s Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 319 Grayson Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 at 11:00 AM on September 23, 2024 followed by a Reception in the Parish Hall.

Debbie was born on July 3, 1966 in Roanoke, VA. Debbie lived a life filled with love for her family and friends and a love for Cruising on the Ocean, Camping, riding on their Pontoon at Lake Lanier and watching her granddaughter barrel racing at Rodeos. Debbie graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in Virginia and then in 1990 moved to Georgia where she graduated from Georgia State University with a BS in Education. She spent the last 24 years working for Willow Bridge (Lincoln Properties) where she worked as a Comptroller. Debbie was a dedicated employee and supervisor with a knack for planning and organization. She will be remembered for the many, many lists she made to help make her projects (whether work or family) come together successfully. She will be remembered by her supervisors and co-workers for the loving, caring person she was.

Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Wright McGhee III on November 28, 2023. Debbie and Tom were married for 25 years, September 5th would have been their 26th Anniversary.

She is survived by her loving step-children: Ashley Bennett (Eric) and Adam McGhee, her precious grandchildren: Jonah and Ella Bennett: her parents, Glenn and Fran Zipfel, her brothers, Daniel Zipfel (Karen) and Dean Zipfel (Jenny), her nieces and nephews: Danielle Preston (Zach), Dana Zipfel, Alex Zipfel, Tyler Zipfel and Abby Zipfel.

Debbie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but we pray that her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched so deeply.

The family requests that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
