Dionne Hughes-Everett

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the daughters of GOD." There are not many people who can navigate life without encountering an enemy. However, Dionne - the peacemaker, caretaker and heart of the Hughes family - somehow brought out the good in every person she met. With her infectious smile, bubbly personality, and authentic spirit, she created a safe space for others to open up and feel both seen and heard. This obedient daughter, devoted wife, and dedicated mother - in the short span she lived on Earth - found time to give wholeheartedly to others, making every person she met feel as if they were "her" special person.

Living an exemplary life is not easy to accomplish. Many spend hours in churches, mosques or synagogues reciting what they should do to reach paradise. Our Dionne Hughes-Everett accomplished this feat with ease by being a kind, humble and generous woman. She fervently taught these principles to each of the Hughes, Everett and Smith children she helped to raise.

Dionne Ranae Hughes-Everett, of Fort Hill, Massachusetts and residing in Sugar Hill, GA, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021, supported by family and friends after an almost two-year battle with cancer. Born in Roxbury on February 18, 1966, Dionne was the daughter of Mildred Hughes and Richard Robinson. She attended school at St. Joseph's, Charles E. Mackey Middle, and Copley High Schools. In school, she participated in the choir and began a love for reading that would manifest itself in a traveling book club later in her life. She attended Northeastern University where she majored in Psychology. Dionne utilized her innate and learned people skills to build a career as an office manager at Advanced Building Inspectors - a position she balanced with child-rearing and volunteer work at each of her children's schools. Being present and shaping children's lives, especially her own, was the most important element of her life.

Loved dearly by her family and friends, Dionne had the gift of being able to transcend generational differences; thereby, time with her was always very fun and meaningful. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crafting, movies and talking to her closest family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted Husband Kenny Everett, mother Mildred Hughes, children, Taj Everett, Stefon Everett, and Nieka (Tyrone) Lewis - Grant ; siblings Jay (Patricia) Hughes, Hassan (Walkitria) Smith, Stacy Robinson, Sharief Robinson; grandchildren London, Kennedy, & Aniya; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
