Dolores Maria Higgins

Dolores Maria (Rodomista) Higgins, age 79 of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully from the effects of Alzheimer's on Sunday, July 9, 2017 with her husband and daughter by her side. Originally from Woodmere, New York, she made a name for herself as a professional singer touring the clubs in Manhattan during the 1950's. In 1960, she signed a year long contract with The Lawrence Welk Show and moved to California appearing regularly on his television show as "Dolores Rodell". Afterward, she moved back to New York and met her husband, Robert Higgins, while working at Kemper Insurance Company. They spent the last 44 years together, raising one child, Teresa, in Stony Brook and Mount Sinai, New York before moving South to Georgia. Dolores was a Board member of "Keep Forsyth County Beautiful", and volunteered at Northside Hospital earning an award for her 15 years of service with over 3,850 hours logged.

The family will receive friends at 10:30 am, Friday, July 14, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming, Georgia 30041. Internment to follow immediately after mass at Suwanee View Memorial Gardens, 1390 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming, Georgia, 30040.
