Dolores Werner

Dolores Werner, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 95 in Cumming, Georgia.

Born on February 11, 1930, to Cornelius and Emma Sweeney, Dolores lived a full and vibrant life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Werner, her parents, her cherished grandson Douglas Merwin, and other dear family members. She is lovingly survived by her three children, Kim Merwin (Keith), David Werner, and Stacey Wright (Trent); her grandchildren, Joseph Merwin, Danny Merwin, Lauren Goldner, Christopher Merwin, Kelsey Werner, Ryan Werner, Kyle Werner, Jordan Wright, Trevor Wright; and by her five adored great-grandchildren.

Dolores built a career in the retail department store industry, where she shared her keen sense of style and love of shopping with countless customers and coworkers. In her personal life, she was a passionate traveler and an enthusiastic participant in Red Hat groups, Bunco, Bridge, Bingo, and ladies’ luncheons. A devoted Catholic, Dolores volunteered at her church, St. Brendan the Navigator, and supported numerous community service organizations.

Known for her warm spirit and remarkable "gift of gab," Dolores loved to share stories about her family and friends — keeping memories alive with humor, heart, and laughter.

A funeral Mass to celebrate Dolores’ life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming, GA 30040.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice, in memory of Dolores Werner.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the joy of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
