Doris Molina of Lawrenceville, Georgia recently living in Cumming, Georgia, passed away suddenly and peacefully on February 29, 2020. Doris was born in New York City on March 10, 1937 and after multiple years living in Washington DC, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and New York, she moved to Georgia in 1995 to be near her three grandchildren. Doris is lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Doris worked for many years for ITT in Human Resources and as a legal secretary for the NY Port Authority and later when she moved to Atlanta, for Kilpatrick-Stockton LLP, where she worked until her retirement. It was when she worked for the NY Port Authority that she was recognized for her resourcefulness and bravery by the City of New York for helping staff evacuate the World Trade Center during the 1993 terrorist attack.
Doris loved socializing and family gatherings and celebrations especially those where she could spend time with her great granddaughters. She enjoyed classical music, theater and ballet. She organized many theater trips to Broadway plays orthe Fox theaterwhile she worked in NY and Atlanta. She also volunteered as an usher atthe Fox Theaterin Atlanta. Until recently, Doris was a church volunteer helping the Hispanic community with legal, spiritual, medical and everyday translations. An accomplishment she was very proud of washer University ofGeorgias Spanish/English Medical Interpreter Certificate which she earned later in life in her 70s.
She is preceded in death by parents Edward and Joaquina Molina of New York and her son Gene Andre. She is survived by her son Edward of Cumming, Ga and daughter Marissa of Cambridge, Canada, daughter-in-law Winne, son-in-law Paul, grandchildren Eddie, Timmy, and Alyssa, granddaughter-in-laws Jessica (Ashcraft) and Callie (Tappmeyer), great granddaughters Karson Jane and Miller Katherine and many loving cousins, friends, Georgia family and step-grandchildren and friends from Canada who brought her great joy and love throughout her years.
The family will receive visitorsSaturday, March 7th, 2020, from 10:00 a.m.until the hour of service. The service will followat 11:00 amin the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home,210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA, with Rev. Jeff Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrance gifts be directed to your local church or your charity of choice.
