Douglas Leroy Wilson (Doug), 63, of Cumming, GA unexpectedly passed away at his home in Owls Head, ME peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 8th, 2024.
Doug was born on December 15th, 1960, to Darrel and Rosalie Wilson in Atchison, KS but spent most of his childhood in Creston, IA. After graduating from Creston High School in 1979, he studied business at the University of Iowa. Doug was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he made clear through his actions. He was unendingly proud of his wife and daughters and always tried his best to support them. Doug was a passionate Iowa Hawkeye fan, Go-Karter, NASCAR fan, Caitlyn Clark fan and could often be found at home working on his go-karts, watching football/basketball, or cooking up something amazing on the Blackstone or grill (the BEST beef tenderloin).. When he wasn’t at home, he took his family on drives through the mountains, visited his favorite restaurants, or wrangled his grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Doug knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Doug was predeceased by his grandparents, Ralph & Marie Weik and Charles & Madeline Wilson. He is survived by his spouse of 34 years - Gail Wilson, his daughters - Rachel Green (Alan Green) & Emma Wilson, and his three grandchildren - Camden Douglas, Knox Alan & Isla Madeline. His Mother and Father - Darrel & Rosalie Wilson, his brother - Rick Wilson (Anastasia Mase) and nephew, Luca Wilson. Doug was blessed with many friends, many cousins, aunts, & uncles as well... Doug was a very loved and cherished family man. The hole he left in our hearts is indescribable. Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Doug’s charity of choice. UI Stead Family Children's Hospital - Give to Iowa - University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital – Gift Details
