Dr. E. Moss Robertson Sr., age 95 passed away peacefully on Friday February 19, 2016 at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, Georgia. He was born in Rome, Georgia to the late James Ernest and Sallie Moss Robertson and grew up in Cartersville, Georgia. Moss is pre-deceased by his wife Catherine Newton Robertson. He lived his life with great dignity and integrity - devoted to the Lord and His church and his family. Moss was a graduate of Oglethorpe University, A.B., Columbia Theological Seminary, M.Div., Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Th. M., John Marshall Law School, J.D., and Atlanta Law School, LL.D. He was founder and first president of what is now Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, Alabama. It began as an adjunct to Judson College and was first known as Alexander City Junior College. Dr. Robertson served as minister at Indian Creek Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, GA., First Baptist Church, Waynesboro, GA., First Baptist Church, Alexander City, AL., Morningside Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, GA., and was the Founder and Pastor Emeritus of St Luke's Presbyterian Church, Dunwoody, GA., retiring after 20 years. After retirement he served as interim pastor in numerous Presbyterian churches in the Atlanta area. In World War II, Dr. Robertson was a U.S. Army Chaplain serving in Europe and the Middle East. He was Assistant to the Chief Chaplain the European Theater of Operations. Moss is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Kenneth Yancey, his son and daughter-in-law, Moss and Tricia Robertson - all of Atlanta, GA. Seven grandchildren - Hammond Rauers, Bryan Rauers, Katie Sanders, E. Moss Robertson III, Kenny Yancey, Kelley Yancey, Keith Yancey and 5 great grandchildren. An Interment service was held at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, Cumming, GA. on February 21, 2016. Chaplain Richard Evans officiated.
