Eddie Fite

Eddie Fite passed away at home in Cumming, Georgia, on March 24, 2023. His last silly joke was less than two days old. Eddie had many vocations: accountant, business advisor, life coach, genealogist, outdoorsman, and amateur comedian. First and foremost, he was a family man and a friend.

Growing up in Dalton, Eddie was always trusted to escort young ladies, but rarely trusted for a straight answer when a joke would serve. He studied business at Berry College, where he did the more important business of meeting and courting the love of his life, Rosa Nutt. Their love story spanned six decades and was an inspiration to many.

Eddie spent his career totting up balanced books, arguing over pennies to save fortunes, and helping others make dreams come true. He never deferred joy. He took you camping, tubed on a river, and gazed into telescopes. He flew kites and launched rockets, and threw an invisible ball to the delight of children and adults. In retirement, he fused glass, became a master naturalist, volunteered with the retired educators group to which his wife belongs, and doted on his beloved granddaughter.

Eddie lives on in those who suffered his jokes and will long benefit from his influence. Among them are his devoted wife Rosa Fite; sons Jeffrey and Tim Fite; daughter-in-law Sarah Fite; granddaughter Evelyn Fite; and brother and sister-in-law Carey and Debbie Fite. Honorary descendants are many, but include Andrea, Anthony, Katie, and Daniel Hickman; and April, Maggie, and Ivy Buckley.

Eddie will rightly be celebrated on April Fool’s Day with a visitation at noon, followed by services at 2 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming. Additional services will be in Dalton , GA. April 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM Antioch Baptist Church. Interment to follow in church cemetery.

Faith has gone unmentioned this far because Eddie’s faith was like that: silent and unpretentious. It was his constant compass but needed no trumpets or bells. Eddie always knew true north.
