Eddie Monroe McDonald, age 58, of Alpharetta, passed peacefully from this life at Emory University Hospital on Monday, July 6, 2015, after an extended illness. Eddie worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation, Office of Bridge Design, and retired in 2011 after 34 years of loyal service. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church for 46 years. He enjoyed being with family and friends at every opportunity. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Nancy McDonald, Silas and Fannie McCarty; father in law and mother in law, Douglas and Betty Castleberry. Eddie is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Cheryl Castleberry McDonald; father and mother, James and Gertrude McDonald of Cumming; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Jones of Panama City, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Tina McDonald of Social Circle; sister, Sarrah Ellen McDonald of Dahlonega; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole and Wendell McCleskey of Cumming; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Janet Castleberry of Roopville; nephews and nieces, Jamie, Jeremy, Daniel, Pierce, Camille, Greg, Wendy, Eric and Tyler; 6 great-nieces, 1 great nephew and many more beloved relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Midway United Methodist Church with Reverend Nancy Meeker officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
