Edna M. Bethune

Edna M. Bethune was born September 6, 1937, in Andersonville, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Eddie English and Rosa Lee Hawkins and their spouses Essie English and Lucious Hawkins. She departed this life December 17, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. She lived to attain the age of seventy-nine.
Edna was the eldest of 16 siblings. Once she was old enough to venture out on her own, Edna relocated to New Brunswick, NJ. Her first job was at a laundromat. After working there for a few years, she applied for a job at Johnson & Johnson, where she was initially hired as a tape machine operator. Should we eventually get promoted to lead operator, and then was asked to train the newly employees. Edna received several achievement awards during her 33 years prior to retirement.
Edna was a member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, NJ, where she was an active senior member of the Usher Board. She was also a longtime member of The Eastern Star, and a former Past Worthy Matron.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Curtis J. Bethune; a son, Jeffrey G. Bethune; Brother-in-laws Henry, Fred, Arthur and Jerry; Sister Geraldine and Brother Charlie.
Left to forever cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Anthony Williams of Cranberry Township, PA; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Wandie Bethune of Atlanta, GA, six grandchildren Kyle, Ashley, Avery, Siana, Elaina and Christopher; siblings Eddie, Mattie, Patricia, Earlene, Barbara, Brenda, Sharon, Pam, Linda, Edwina, Alphonso, Lorenzo, Allen and Frank; and a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
