So a man walks into the world and spends the next sixty years making friends with every stranger he met, telling the best jokes, finding a lot of sand traps, mastering the grill and wowing his high school sweetheart.
That man was born Edward Dean Barden on November 1, 1958. He was better known as Eddie, Edderd, Edgar, Pops, Papa, Falcon, Pa-In-Law, and, of course, Ol Stink Eye. He was born in Atlanta, the seventh of nine kids, to Howell and Norma Jean Barden. Eddie was the most popular kid to ever roam the halls of Woodward Academy, and it was during this time that he met his soon to be lovely bride, Lisa. They met in the summer of 76 and were married in 78. They spent the next 41 years building the family that became the pride of his life: Taylor (Beth), Kyle (Cameron), and Jonathan (Brandy). His boys gave him one grandchild short of a stick and a ball yall: Oliver, Sullivan and Harper, Ava Grace, Rocco Edward and Brett, Mac, Teddy Ann and Darsie.
Shortly after getting married, the family moved to North Carolina where Eddie completed a twenty-one year career with the airlines before moving back to Atlanta to begin his second career of nineteen years in the commercial door business and settling into their home in Canton, GA. He loved golf, water sports, gardening, family events, and friendly wagers at any and all of those activities.
After bravely fighting prostate cancer for over fifteen years, this great man went peacefully in his sleep on August 31, 2019.
He will indubitably be missed by his family listed above as well as his four brothers, two sisters, countless other loving family members, best friends, honorary brothers and every stranger he met. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers - Alan, Steve, and Randy.
We are happy to know that he can now both hoot with the owls AND soar with the eagles.
In lieu of flowers, we would like for you to have a drink with someone you love (or that you dont know) in Eddies honor.
