Eleanor Carolyn McConnell

Carolyn McConnell, age 84, of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 after a decline in health associated with pancreatic cancer. Carolyn was born February 11, 1940 to the late Albert (Buddy) and Inez Kalb of Marietta, Georgia. A Navy wife of 41 years to her late husband Roy McConnell from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma that passed in July, 2000.

Carolyn was a Christian woman of Methodist faith and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia. 

Being a Navy family they traveled many places over the years, once Roy retired from the Navy, Carolyn became a school bus driver where she drove many children to and from school for many years in Cobb County and then in Forsyth County where she retired. She was associated with the Cobb County school bus safety program where she introduced the remote controlled school bus, “Buster” to the children to teach important lessons about school bus safety. 

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved crocheting, crafts, reading, politics, bird watching and praising our lord and savior. One of her greatest treasures was her grandson, Alex. Carolyn taught Alex and her family how to cook (especially her known yeast rolls), how to shop for a bargain, how to sing, how to craft, how to tell a story, how to appreciate the quiet moments, how to accept death, and how to love. Nobody could have taught us any better. Her family will cherish these wonderful memories and life lessons.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn is preceded in death by her daughter Joy McConnell, brothers and sister-in-laws, Ray and Shirley Kalb, Alfred and Marjorie Kalb, sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Ralph McClure. Nephews, Jimmy and Jeff Kalb, Niece, Debbie Kalb Alms and Great Niece, Darcie Ryan Hartford. 

Survived by her son and daughter in law, Allen and Sandra McConnell of Cumming Georgia, grandson and his wife, Alex and Zabby (Heying) McConnell and several nieces and nephews.
