Elizabeth "Libby" Dabe McDaniel
Libby Dabe McDaniel, age 83, of Cumming, Georgia, passed peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, January 9, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, the first of four children to William T. Dabe and Mildred B. Dabe, December 11, 1941. Libby attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Phi Mu sorority.
Libby's passions included showing her love and devotion to her husband, daughters, and grandchildren, family, and her pets. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
She began her Christian service as a vacation church schoolteacher in 1955 at the Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church in Atlanta Georgia. Libby served in many capacities at the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church such as, a devoted Day School teacher and tutor for the children's literacy programs.
Married for 58 years, Libby was preceded in death by John D. McDaniel, the love of her life. Libby was a devoted mother to Jennifer Lynn McDaniel Visperas, Dana Elizabeth McDaniel Hancock, and her husband Ross Bell Hancock. She was a proud grandmother to Brandon Taylor Visperas, Margaux Elizabeth Visperas, Katelyn Elizabeth Hancock, and Madison Katherine Hancock. She is survived by her brother Irwin Dabe, and his wife Ruth Ann, her sister Charlotte Dabe Urban and brother Richard Dabe, and his wife Leslie.
Please join the McDaniel family and loved ones to celebrate her life on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church (APC), 180 Academy Street, Alpharetta, Georgia, 30009. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to support the church “Memorial Fund" of APC. Ingram Funeral & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia oversees arrangements.
